Commenting on the government’s plans to implement the Employment Rights Bill, UNISON head of policy Sampson Low said:
“This bill is a game changer that can’t come soon enough. It’s the most significant piece of employment rights legislation in decades. And it will deliver real, positive change for working people.
“Those seeking to delay or dilute these changes must be resisted. The reforms are popular, long overdue and exactly what staff are calling for.
“From next April, workers will gain vital new rights, including access to statutory sick pay, paternity leave, and parental leave from day one at work. They’ll also have stronger protections against harassment and greater support when speaking out about poor workplace practices. All rights that workers were denied for too long.
“This legislation will help all employers become better employers.”
