A reminder that the new branch procurement service has been launched and is available on the Branch Service Portal here.
Branches can access central arrangements for goods and services to save time sourcing and vetting suppliers, as well as access procurement guidance and toolkits that has been tailored for UNISON branches.
A Branch Procurement Toolkit includes ‘8 tips for successful procurement’. Branches can work through these 8 points to check their current practices. Our top tip is that branches look to establish procurement procedures and we’ve provided a template that can be adopted. Implementing these recommendations will help to ensure good procurement governance.
The branch procurement service is not mandatory, so branches can choose to buy elsewhere if they wish, however by using this service you won’t have to spend time shopping around and checking terms and conditions. Branches can rely on the procurement team to carry out due diligence, negotiate commercial terms and ensure the suppliers meet UNISON’s ethical and sustainability policies. We strive to only put forward competitive arrangements with ethical providers that we are confident will provide an excellent service and won’t oversell.
