Green Week September 2023 : UNISON & Friends of The Earth

Green Week : September 2023

  • 18 September 2023

Green Week is Friday 15th September through to 25th September 2023 and never has it been more important to understand how we’re all at risk through climate change. The planet will survive but will humanity?

"Green UNISON" logo.

Investing in clean energy instead of fossil fuels would not only reduce global greenhouse gas emissions and result in 30 times the number of jobs created by a  comparable investment in fossil fuels, it’s also already way cheaper. It’s not about saving the planet. The planet will outlive us. Its about saving humanity. – Mary Clarke, UNISON North West Climate Emergency Group

The climate crisis is real, growing and needs swift action. UNISON believe helping people to do the right thing will make this happen faster and more effectively. A FAIR, JUST TRANSITION!

The science is clear, human actions; burning fossil fuels, spreading pollution and damage to the natural world upon which our civilisation rests, is leading to a warming of our planet and could signal permanent, irreversible damage.

The economics are clear; delayed action will cost more as the damage increases, both to tackle floods, fire, water and food shortages, and to make the changes needed in a hurry rather than over time.

ALL AGREE IT IS NOT TOO LATE – TIMELY ACTION CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. SO LET’S GET ON WITH IT!

Read the leaflet about Green Week and what YOU can do to make a real difference now!
