Scarcely a week goes by without us learning more about how a Reform UK Government would negatively impact UNISON members.
Last week, the party announced its plan to scrap the Employment Rights Act and Renters Rights Acts and reduce the value of public sector pensions.
At the same time, Reform UK politicians continue to sow division in our communities and stoke fear among migrant workers.
Despite this, Reform UK is still riding high in the polls and predicted to make further breakthroughs in the upcoming elections taking place on 7th May, which include the devolved nations, London and some local elections.
UNISON activists and members have a vital part to play in tackling Reform UK. We can:
- Explain to work colleagues, friends and family exactly what Reform UK stand for
- Encourage them to use their votes to keep them out of power
- Support members of our communities who feel threatened by their divisive rhetoric
This is where UNISON’s new Responding to Reform UK Network comes in. It connects those who want to fight back – enabling us to:
- Share information about training events
- Distribute campaign ideas and materials
- Provide moral support to work colleagues
It will also enable members to share information about what’s happening where they are.
Activists and members who sign up to the Network will be invited to a Webinar with Andrea Egan, which will take place towards the end of March.
