Prime minister needs to turn words into action, says UNISON
Commenting on Keir Starmer’s speech at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool today (Tuesday), UNISON general secretary Christina McAnea said:
“The prime minister was clear on the challenges facing the country. After a frustrating first year in office, he didn’t shy away from the difficulties of meeting them.
“He painted an optimistic picture of what’s possible in a united Britain, built on diversity, tolerance and compassion.
“Politicians who thrive on division and don’t offer anything positive have no answers on how to get the UK back on its feet. Patriotism is never an excuse for racism or attacking others.
“Keir Starmer made all the right noises about rebuilding the NHS, tackling the cost-of-living crisis and boosting opportunities for young people. But the public needs to see this in action.”
