A threat to public service workers assesses Reform UK’s plans in detail and finds the party to be one that clearly prioritises the interests of bosses and businesses above all else.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies has already found that Reform’s tax plans would give the poorest households £17 a year and the richest £2,700. This is unsurprising given that 75% of all the party’s donations come from just three wealthy men.
UNISON general secretary Andrea Egan said, “Reform UK has shown what it really thinks of working people. The millionaires calling the shots in Reform don’t think those putting in a hard day’s graft deserve basic rights or fair pay.”
The report also finds that, in local government, Reform’s eleven months in power across ten councils have produced leadership chaos, broken promises on council tax, racist scandals, and “efficiency drives” that found nothing because council services are already cut to the bone.
Next week, millions of UNISON members will head to the polls in May elections for the Welsh Senedd, Scottish Parliament and England’s local councils. UNISON encourages all members to vote in the interests of workers and public services.
