Sefton UNISON women’s committee have started a period poverty campaign. The aim is to eradicate period poverty in and around Sefton to start with.
Sadly, we still have many people and members in our communities who can’t afford sanitary products.
We have had boxes designed and produced and we have gone out in force, speaking to employers & members throughout the Borough, asking if can we place one of our boxes in their toilets.
Some of the buildings that have our boxes are Magdalene house, Bootle Town Hall, Ainsdale Training unit. nearly all of New Directions buildings, Bosco Homeless hostels, Expect Ltd, Waterloo Primary School, Sefton Arc, Meols Cop and many more schools.
The boxes encourage people to take if they need – and donate if they can! Please support if you see our boxes and please do let our office know if you would like one in your workplace.

And just before Christmas, Sefton Council’s Community Equipment Stores held a Christmas jumper day and all the wonderful staff donated sanitary products to Sefton UNISON women’s committee’s period poverty campaign. Great event – big thankyou to Paula Taylor, welfare officer for Sefton UNISON 💜
