UNISON Stewards will all meet today (17th March) for a training session on 'Mindful Employer'. This will cover the basics of Mental Health Issues and the Stress Policy of the Council. The aims of the day are to better equip Stewards to recognise both types of issues (mental health and stress in the workplace) and provide better support to our members with the result in a healthier workforce and less days off work lost to stress - the biggest cause of absences in Sefton Council. Mental health experts will present the signs and symptoms as well as the accompanying stereotypes and Stewards will also spend time studying the Stress Policy and exploring ways to better apply it. Anyone interested in this Joint Venture between UNISON and the Council should email Paul Horan on This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and he will be happy to come to your workplace to explain the training and the Mindful Employer Award. This Project is funded through Unionlearn and adopted by Sefton Council. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The UNISON Office has been attacked and its sign stolen! Branch Secretary, Glen Williams, pictured here before the Office Sign was stolen was not available for comment as the trauma had simply become too much - he will be due back 3 weeks today (11th March) though to carry out a thorough investigation! The sign that lights up Sefton Borough and draws thousands of Members in every year has been maliciously and deliberately stolen in an attempt to halt the massive progress being made by UNISON in its opposition to compulsory redundancies! No stone will be left unturned and already CCTV has captured those below who will be interrogated shortly!
A Reward is offered (but yet to be negotiated) for anyone with information that leads to a sucessful prosecution. No ransom note has yet been submitted (as we do not have a letter box that might be difficult!). Please note that any resemblance the above pictures may have to (former) Council employees is purely coincidental. The result of all evidence and information gathered will be annnounced and the offender named and shamed three weeks today (11th March) - please keep your eyes out and look for a sign! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Branch Executive Committee Supports Dave Prentis for General Secretary Election. The Stewards Committee met today and unanimously agreed to support the nomination of Dave Prentis for General Secretary in the forthcoming elections. The all postal ballot will be sent to Members' homes and Sefton has joined with the North West and many other regions in recommending that our members vote for Dave Prentis. For real leadership, fairness, continuity and a voice of confidence and honesty that speaks for the majority of our union, please join your elected Officers and Stewards and make sure you use your vote for Dave Prentis when the Ballot forms arrives at your home.
